MP for Chipping Barnet, Theresa Villiers, has condemned Healthcare for London's decision to press ahead with plans to locate specialist stroke and trauma services miles away from Barnet. She said:
"This news will come as a huge blow to my Chipping Barnet constituents. The knowledge that they will have to travel so far to access crucial services will be a source of real anxiety.”
“Yet again, Labour have let Barnet down on the NHS. They have refused to listen to the spirited and determined campaign for essential stroke services at Barnet, led by Dr Sheela Shah, with strong support from Barnet Council."
“Labour's record on the NHS in Barnet is dismal. Yet again, both Barnet and the Royal Free have been overlooked for much needed services. Barnet has one of the highest stroke rates in London, but in an emergency, my constituents will have to make the lengthy and difficult journey into central London to receive treatment.”
